flash player 10.1 = better internet video

a pre-release of the flash 10.1 player is available for download at adobe labs.

this update will improve the flash performance on your computer, which is long overdue. ever had a youtube video playback so horrible that it feels like it’s swimming through molasses (and eventually takes the entire browser down with it)? yeah, i’ve been there.

most of the performance improvement is coming from the H.264 hardware decoding feature, which is currently only for Windows PC with supported hardwares – no love for mac and linux users this pre-release. however, i’ve installed this on my macbook, and flash do load quicker and smoother, although nothing revolutionary. more details over at mashable.

anyways, go download it and give it a shot. if you have good experiences with it on a Windows machine, give me a shout!

ps. this is also the version that will eventually have mobile support, meaning youtube and flash games are coming to our favorite smartphones! (except iphone, it seems.)
