capture the whole webpage in a screenshot

here’s a way to capture the entire content of a webpage in some sort of a snapshot, without breaking them into pages (OS X):

  1. in the browser, go to File -> Page Setup.
  2. in Paper Size -> Manage Custom Size
  3. set up a paper size for about 8.5 x 30 in. (or equivalent in cm). the idea is to set a ridiculous length, so the output will be continous. change the width as well if the page doesn’t fit.
  4. use the standard print to PDF option (“Save as PDF).

i’ve used it to capture snapshots of websites i’m working on for a client. really useful to showcase the design and still be able to keep the whole thing in a file.
